Comprehensive & Preventive Care

Dr. Cueto’s clinical approch is to evaluate oral health in relation to your overall health. A full medical history is completed with all new patients and reviewed annually. Often times our oral health and hygiene routines play an integral role in larger health issues including cardiac complications, diabetes, and sleep apnea. As a dental healthcare provider it is our responsibility to evaluate and assess not only the parts of your mouth we can physically see, but those which can only be addressed with specific radiographs too. For this reason all new patients receive a full mouth series of dental radiographs and a panoramic radiograph. These films allow us to asses not only the clinical crowns of your teeth, but the roots, surrounding supporting structures of the teeth, and your temporomandibular joint. The additional films allow us to accurately assess if any dental infection is present, location of the third molars, if there are any abnormalities in the jaw bones and joints, and can even be used to detect major blood vessel calcifications.

Dr. Cueto and our hygiene department recommends that routine exams and cleaning begin at age 2. Preventative care should be completed twice per year for all routine cleanings and exams. Often times underlying medical conditions and social habits will require a more frequent cleaning schedule. These findings will be discussed with you at your new patient exam and a thoughtful maintenance program will be determined with Dr. Cueto. These appointments may occur every 3-4 months depending on homecare management, clinical findings, and medical history.
